Meesho Wrong Return Claim: How to Scan, Prove and Get Paid

You shipped a new cotton kurti in size M. Ten days later the return parcel comes back, and inside is an old, washed kurti in a different colour. Or a size S that isn't even yours. Or a polybag with nothing in it. The product cost you ₹400, the shipping is already gone, and the buyer has their refund.

That money is not lost yet. A Meesho wrong return claim is how you ask Meesho to pay you for a return that came back wrong. But claims are only paid when the proof is right and the timing is right, and most sellers lose them on one of those two. This guide walks through the whole process: how to check every return, what proof to keep, how to write the claim, and how to follow it until the money arrives.

Key takeaways

  • Open every return on camera, the day it arrives. A claim without a continuous unboxing video is very hard to win.
  • Check each return against the order: product, size, colour, quantity and condition. Five checks, about a minute per parcel.
  • Raise the claim inside Meesho's claim window, which is short. Check the current window in your Supplier Panel and don't let returns sit unopened.
  • Track every claim to the end. A ticket that is closed without payment needs a follow-up, not a shrug.

What counts as a wrong return on Meesho?

A wrong return is a return parcel that does not contain what you shipped, in the condition you shipped it. It is different from a normal customer return, where the right product comes back unused, and from an RTO (return to origin), where the buyer never accepted the parcel at all.

Most wrong returns fall into one of these types. The proof you need is slightly different for each.

What came backWhat to show in your proof
A different productThe unboxing video, a clear photo of the item next to the return label, and your product photo or packing video
Your product, wrong size or colourThe size tag or colour on camera, and the size or colour on the order
Used, washed, torn or stainedClose-up photos of the damage, tags missing or cut, and the video showing it came out of the sealed parcel like that
Missing pieces from a set or comboEvery piece counted on camera, and the order quantity
Empty or tampered parcelThe outside of the parcel from all sides before opening, the tape and seal, and the weight if you can

Step 1: Open every return on camera, the day it arrives

The unboxing video is the single most important piece of proof. Without it, it is your word against the buyer's. Set up one fixed camera or phone stand over a clean table, and record every return from the moment you pick it up.

  1. Start recording before you touch the parcel. Show the sealed parcel from all sides, then hold the return label up to the camera so the AWB number can be read.
  2. Open it in one take. No pause, no cut, no second attempt. Sellers report that videos with cuts or edits are commonly rejected, because a cut leaves room to swap the item.
  3. Show the item clearly. Hold it up, turn it over, show the size tag, the colour and any damage close to the lens.
  4. Save the file with the sub-order number in its name, the same day. A video you cannot find in a week is no use.

If you already record a packing video for every outgoing parcel, keep it. A video of that exact order being packed, with the right item going into the bag, makes a wrong return claim much stronger.

Four-step flow for a wrong return: open the parcel on camera, check it against the order, raise the claim with proof inside the window, and track the ticket until it is paid.
The four steps every return should go through. Most lost claims skip step 1 or miss the window at step 3.

Step 2: Check the return against the order

A wrong return is only caught if someone compares what came back with what was shipped. Returns left on a pile for days can miss the claim window. For each return, check five things against the order details:

  • Product: is it the same design, the same SKU you shipped?
  • Size: does the tag match the ordered size?
  • Colour: is it the ordered colour, not a similar one?
  • Quantity: for packs and combos, are all the pieces there?
  • Condition: unused, tags attached, no stains, smell or damage?

If all five pass, it is a normal return: put it back into stock the same day so it can sell again. If any one fails, move the parcel and its video to a separate "claim" shelf, and raise the claim before the end of the day.

Step 3: Raise the claim with the right proof

Raise the claim from the support or help section of your Meesho Supplier Panel, choosing the return issue that matches what you received, and the sub-order number of the return. The panel will ask for details and attachments. Fill them completely: a claim that is missing a file is usually sent back or rejected, and the time it takes to fix it eats into your window.

Claim windows are short, often a matter of days from when the return was delivered to you, and the rules change from time to time. Check the current window and the exact issue types in your Supplier Panel rather than relying on what another seller told you last year.

Wrong return claim proof checklist with six items: sub-order number and AWB, a continuous unboxing video, clear photos of the item and tags, photos of the packaging and label, a short factual description, and the claim raised inside the window.
Check these six before you press submit. Save this card for your returns desk.

What to write in the claim description

Keep it short, factual and specific. Say what you shipped, what came back, and what the attachments show. For example:

Shipped: SKU KURTI-BLU-M, blue cotton kurti, size M, with tags. Received in return: a used green kurti, size S, no tags, not our product. Unboxing video shows the sealed parcel, the return AWB, and the item. Photos of the item, tags and packaging attached.

Avoid long complaints, angry language or guesses about the buyer. Whoever reads the claim should be able to match your note to your video in a minute.

Step 4: Track every claim until it is paid

Raising the claim is half the work. Every claim should end in one of two places: paid, or rejected with a reason you have read and answered. The expensive outcome is the third one: a ticket nobody looked at again.

  • Check open claims every few days. Read the reply. If Meesho asks for more proof, send it on the same ticket the same day.
  • If a claim is rejected, read why. If your proof answers the reason, reply on the ticket with it. If the video was the problem, fix your returns desk so it does not happen again.
  • Match approved claims to your payouts. An approved claim is not money until it shows in a payment. Note the amount and look for it in the next settlements.

What unclaimed wrong returns really cost

A single wrong return feels small. Here is the arithmetic for a hypothetical seller, so you can run it with your own numbers.

Worked example: 1,000 orders a month with 100 returns, of which 5 come back wrong at a product cost of 450 rupees each, which is 2,250 rupees a month and 27,000 rupees a year if never claimed.
An illustrative example. Replace the numbers with your own return count and product cost.

Say you ship 1,000 orders a month on Meesho and 100 come back as customer returns. If just 5 of those are wrong returns, at a product cost of ₹450 each, that is ₹2,250 a month, or ₹27,000 a year. That is before counting the shipping already spent on those orders, and it is the part of the loss a good claim can recover.

Wrong returns also tend to rise after a big sale, simply because more parcels come back. If you are planning for the festive season, our Diwali sale warehouse checklist covers the returns wave that follows it.

How Wisdom OMS handles wrong returns

Wisdom OMS puts the return check, the claim and the follow-up on the same screens, so a wrong return does not depend on someone remembering it.

  • Scan returns as they arrive. Scan Return matches each parcel to its order and shows the order details on screen, so the five checks take seconds. Returns can be filtered by return type, date and whether they were received.
  • Scan Wrong Return. Scan the parcel that came back wrong and the claim dialog opens for that order, right at the returns desk.
  • Raise any Meesho ticket from Wisdom. Pick the issue, fill in what Meesho asks for, and raise it without opening the Meesho panel. Alerts can raise a ticket straight from the card.
  • See Meesho's real reply. Tickets carry their live status and Meesho's latest reply, with filters for Open, Approved and Rejected. A Closed, unpaid tab gathers the claims that were closed without paying you.
  • Packing video. Record a video of every parcel you pack, without pressing record, so the proof of what went out is ready when a return comes back wrong.
  • One timeline per order. Every scan, label, payment and ticket on an order, with who did it and when.

The same works for Flipkart and Myntra stores in the same account. More than 10,000 Indian online sellers use Wisdom. See everything it does on the Wisdom OMS product page, or read what an order management system does if you are new to the idea.

Frequently asked questions

What is a wrong return claim on Meesho?

It is a request to Meesho to compensate you when a return parcel does not contain the product you shipped, or contains it used, damaged or incomplete. You raise it from the Supplier Panel against the sub-order, with an unboxing video and photos as proof.

How do I raise a wrong return claim on Meesho?

Open the support or help section of your Meesho Supplier Panel, choose the return issue that matches what you received, and enter the sub-order number. Attach a continuous unboxing video, clear photos of the item, tags and packaging, and write a short description of what you shipped and what came back.

What should I write in the Meesho wrong return claim description?

State what you shipped (SKU, product, size, colour), what you received, and what the attachments show. Keep it to three or four factual sentences. A clear description that matches the video is easier to approve than a long complaint.

Why was my Meesho wrong return claim rejected?

The most common reasons sellers report are a missing or edited unboxing video, a parcel that was opened before recording, photos that do not show the problem clearly, or a claim raised after the window closed. Read the reason on the ticket and reply with the missing proof if you have it.

How long do I have to raise a wrong return claim on Meesho?

The window is short and Meesho sets it, so check the current limit in your Supplier Panel. The safe habit is to open and check every return on the day it is delivered, and raise any claim the same day.

Stop losing returns you could have claimed
